This is the perfect time of year to begin planning for Vacation Bible School. I love Vacation Bible School, it’s like going to summer camp without the bugs and mud.

A typical VBS includes: games, music, snacks, sports, crafts, Bible and missionary stories and a whole lot more. If you are a church leader this could be the ideal program for you. If you’re a parent, make sure to sign your children up for all the fun and blessings this event will provide.

The contract signed by School Superintendent Brenda Hodges April 1 is illegal, according to Town Manager John D'Agostino. So is the $65,000 already paid to the construction company, Vanguard.

D'Agostino, reacting to articles in the media the past several weeks that he said implied he had somehow overlooked the ongoing construction at the high school, reiterated neither he, the town accountant, nor the selectmen realized until June 15 that the school department had entered into a contract for money the town did not have.

A huge summertime benefit of living in this area is the Comcast Center, formerly known as the Tweeter Center, originally known as the Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts. To me, the place is and has always been a big part of annual summer fun. I love it over there.
